GROUND AND AIR RISK ANALYSIS

wingman calculates the ground and air risk as well as the SAIL of your flight automatically, based on your information and the flight plan.

Concept of Operations

After a pre-evaluation, the first step to be completed by SORA is your Concept of Operations. This is usually provided as a separate document and can be uploaded in this step. Nevertheless, several important details must be entered in the workflow, such as the selection of the drone. This can be easily selected and assigned from your previously created equipment pool. The technical data of the drone is then automatically transferred to the risk calculation.

Flugplan

In the next step, you can define whether you want to fly during the day and/or at night and define important characteristics of your flight, such as maximum flight altitude, contingency area and ground risk buffer (for the calculation, see “Automatic calculation of the ground risk buffer”).

To better understand the exact appearance of your flight plan and the meaning of the contingency area and ground risk buffer, you can watch a short explanatory video.

Then upload your flight plan in kml or geojson format. This will then be used for the risk calculation.

Initiales SAIL

And then you come to one of the most important wingman features: the Risk Calculation. Our risk engine automatically calculates the initial SAIL, consisting of ground risk and air risk, based on your information and your flight plan. In doing so, wingman observes in detail the (SORA 2.0) method currently used by the responsible authority. From here you can view details of the risk along the flight plan by navigating to the map. You can also declare various mitigations, the impact of which is also calculated automatically according to the SORA method. More on this later.
